Redmond reveals new lineup of portable chargers

With so many apps running at the same time on our devices, a smartphone whose battery can get us through the day is essential, but sometimes, when heavy usage is involved, this thing becomes quite impossible.

To make sure that you have enough battery juice even when you’re on the go, Microsoft has launched a new lineup of what it calls portable chargers, which are essentially external batteries that can be used to recharge your phones without the need for a wall socket.

The so-called Portable Dual Chargers are available in three versions, with 5200 mAh, 9000 mAh, and 12000 mAh, obviously with different sizes and weights. For those who want to charge their phones several times or maybe recharge a Surface tablet on the go, the last one is clearly the best option.

All three chargers come with two USB ports and will go on sale in the next few weeks in several markets, which Microsoft is yet to reveal. Pricing will be $35 (€30) for the 5,200 mAh version, $45 (€40) for the 9,000 mAh model, and $55 (€49) for the top-of-the-range external battery with 12,000 mAh.

“If both your Lumia and portable charger need charging, make use of the ‘daisy-chain’ feature. Simply connect the power pack to the charger, then your mobile device to the power pack and both will charge simultaneously,” Microsoft says.

Enough juice for three full Lumia 1520 recharges

Needless to say, these chargers really come in handy when extra battery is needed, and there’s enough juice to charge your Windows Phone flagship several time.

For example, the Lumia 1520, which, by the way is still considered a flagship, has a battery of 3400 mAh, which means that the 12,000 mAh version can recharge the phone 3 times and still have some battery left.

All three portable chargers will be available in black and will be also sold via Microsoft’s online store later this month.
