Gaming on PCs will finally be every bit as good as on consoles, only better because of more powerful hardware

Microsoft has announced a couple of new hardware accessories on its menu, including a wired Xbox One controller for PC gaming, enabling fans of master race gaming to enjoy a bit of console swag.

The controller is the same one included in the Xbox One computer entertainment system, and you can use it seamlessly with your device for multiplayer, if you don't already have a second one.

The PC controller even comes at the same price as the ones available for the Xbox One, with the only difference being the inclusion of a USB cable that allows you to play on PC.

What's the deal with controllers?

Many PC games support console controllers as a secondary control scheme, and if you want to escape sitting at a desk with mouse and keyboard in hand and enjoy games on a big screen TV, lying on a couch with the controller in hand is the way to go.

"Experience the action like never before with the Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows. Redesigned thumbsticks and an all new D-pad provide greater precision. Enjoy the reliable wired connection to your PC – and forget about replacing batteries. The Xbox One Controller + Cable for Windows can be used as wired or wireless on your Xbox One," the official product description page reads.

The wired Xbox controller will be the first from the latest generation of consoles to be compatible with PCs, and it's coming out this November, at a yet undisclosed date.

Requirements

You don't have to do anything special in order to make use of the Xbox One controller for PC, and you only require a Pentium 300 MHz or higher processor, with 128 MB of RAM and 150 MB available hard disk space, and either Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 installed to make it run.

This means that you'll also be able to use it on legacy systems, but the few remaining XP users won't be able to make use of it. Of course, the controller itself has to be supported by the game you're playing, as you won't be able to use it for playing games that are incompatible with it.

For the time being, the controller does not yet work wirelessly with PCs, but this will most likely be solved in the near future, as was in the case of the Xbox 360 controller, that eventually got a dongle for wireless play, although initially being restricted to wired play.
