We’re only a few weeks away from the public launch of Windows 8.1, so Microsoft is making the final adjustments to the OS, just to make sure that all users will be allowed to download it without any issues.

The company has released a new update aimed at 8.1 Preview workstations supposed to prevent any errors that may show up when upgrading to RTM on October 18.

“This update will improve the user experience when you upgrade to the Release to Manufacturing (RTM) version of Windows 8.1 when it is released. After the update is applied, download failures and installation issues will be reduced when you upgrade through the Windows Store,” the Knowledge Base article 2880312 points out as noted by WindowsObserver.

Back in June when Microsoft officially launched the 8.1 Preview update for Windows 8 consumers, lots of users experienced download issues from the Store, mostly due to a number of errors experienced during the installation process.

This time, Microsoft apparently plans to avoid similar problems, so make sure you download and install the latest updates in case you’re running Windows 8.1 Preview.
