In addition to the six security bulletins that it rolled out on Patch Tuesday to fix vulnerabilities in its software, Microsoft also released some important updates aimed to resolve bugs and other issues in various versions of Windows, including the recently launched Windows 8.1 and its tablet-oriented sibling, Windows RT 8.1.

KB2971203, for example, was specifically introduced to bring some improvements to the Windows Store in Windows 8.1, Windows RT 8.1, and Windows Server 2008 R2.

The patch is mostly supposed to address bugs in the Windows Store, and according to Microsoft, these are the problems that it fixes:

Apps that you have installed will not be advertised on the live tile. Microsoft Narrator will not read an invisible error dialog box. After you install an app, the Install button will not offer to reinstall. Other reliability improvements.

Just like the other updates that Microsoft rolls out on every Patch Tuesday, this particular fix is also being delivered via Windows Update, so minimum user input is required to get it. Additionally, those who want to get it manually should click the links below to get the version working on their PCs. Keep in mind that the Windows RT patch is only available via Windows Update, so Surface RT buyers, for instance, have no manual download option.
