Microsoft has rolled out a new version of the Solitaire Collection game today, thus providing adopters of Windows 8.1 with a bunch of improvements supposed to enhance the overall experience on both PCs and tablets.

The new version of the game is offered to everyone running the modern operating system, and while the game works on Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, the latter benefits from enhanced support and optimizations.

Although there are quite a lot of Solitaire games in the store, there's no doubt that Microsoft's is one of the most addictive, coming with five different variations, namely Klondike, FreeCell, Spider, TriPeaks, and Pyramid, as well as with several themes, backgrounds, and card designs.

"Solitaire remains the most played computer game of all time, and for good reason. Simple rules and straightforward gameplay make it easy to pick up for everyone, from age 8 to age 80. Solitaire has been part of Windows for more than 20 years, and The Microsoft Solitaire Collection makes it the best experience to date with five different card games in one," Microsoft says.

As mentioned, the new version of the game is being delivered through the store to everyone running Windows 8 and Windows 8.1, so just check for updates and you should be able to see it.

If you're on Windows 8.1 and haven't changed the default OS configuration, app updates are automatically installed on your computer, so the new version might already be there.
