Microsoft has recently launched the Surface tablets in Taiwan, thus trying to make the devices available to more customers only months ahead of the second-generation’s debut.

According to a report by Digitimes, both the Surface RT and the Pro are now sold in the country, with pricing starting at NT$10,888 ($363 / €273) for the 32 GB version of the RT model.

While no details have been provided, Microsoft is reportedly working on the second-generation Surface tablet that’s expected to include upgraded hardware and run Windows 8.1.

In addition, the company is also developing a smaller device, possibly equipped with an 8-inch display, specifically designed to compete with the Apple iPad and the Nexus 7.

Pricing is projected to be around $250 (€210), as Microsoft wants the small tablet to be a very affordable solution for everyone.
