Microsoft has just announced that both the Surface RT and the Pro tablets will be made available to businesses in 17 new countries, as the company struggles to expand international channel availability of the devices.

The Surface tablets will be available via commercial channels in Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK, the company said.

“In addition to offering Microsoft’s extended warranty and accidental damage, resellers bring a variety of additional value-added services to the Surface family, such as asset tagging, custom imaging, kitting, onsite service and support, device recycling and data protection,” it noted.

Microsoft is also believed to be working on the second-generation Surface tablet that’s also expected to include a smaller unit with an 8-inch screen. Word is that the company could launch it before the end of the year.
