The first Patch Tuesday fixes of 2013 also include a Surface firmware update that is supposed to fix some sound issues discovered on Microsoft’s first tablet in history.

According to a blog post on Microsoft’s support forums, Patch Tuesday comes with a few improvements for Surface with Windows RT, including enhancements to audio playback when in Connected Standby and additional capabilities for handling firmware updates during low battery situations.

While the patches are very likely to fix the distorted sounds some users are experiencing after waking up the tablet from standby, there are no actual updates for the Wi-Fi bug so many people have confirmed on their Surface RT.

Microsoft is apparently still working on a fix in this regard, so expect to see even more updates for the Surface RT in the upcoming weeks.
