Microsoft has recently teamed up with media agency MGOMD, DG MediaMind and Specsavers to launch what is being called “Spectacle wearer of the year,” a special Skype contest for those wearing glasses.

Basically, it all comes down to Skype and to its British users. The VoIP service will display a series of ads that encourage users in this particular market to open their webcams and take a picture of them wearing glasses.

Upload the photo to the contest page, get votes and win a trip to St. Lucia.

“The campaign will appear on Skype’s interface, encouraging users to click on a display ad or leader board to activate their webcams. From there they can take a picture of themselves wearing glasses to enter the competition with the chance to win the top prize, a trip for two to St Lucia,” Microsoft explained.

The campaign runs till the end of June and will also be promoted via dedicated ads displayed on the British website of MSN.
