Microsoft has just announced the release of Skype 5.2 for iPhone, thus providing those who have purchased an Apple device with a new series of improvements and new features.

The company has recently launched Skype 5.0 and 5.1, which came with a pack of fresh options, including the ability to delete a conversation and edit a message, but version 5.2 comes with even more than that.

Starting today, iPhone users are also provided with voice message support, which means that every time you receive a new voice message from someone, it will show up in the conversation, so you only need to press the play button to listen to it.

At the same time, the Skype 5.2 for iPhone comes with options to view contact profiles and access more information belonging to people in your list.

“Simply tap on any contact in your people list and then select profile from the “…” menu, and your contact’s mood message, Skype name, birthday, location and more will be available. Additionally, if you are in a 1 to 1 conversation, you can just tap on the contact name in the header to bring up their profile,” Microsoft explained in a statement today.

Last but not least, users can now add participants to existing conversations with the press of a single button. Simply tap the “…” menu in the bottom right corner when you’re in a conversation and you should find an “add participants” option that allows you to invite someone in your list.

Just like the previous versions of Skype, 5.2 can be found directly in the App Store, but the update should also be offered automatically to your iPhone. In case it doesn’t, launch the store and look for Skype, as the 5.2 should already be there for everyone.

Microsoft promises to continue improvements in the coming months, so fresh versions of Skype for iPhones should also be released very soon.

“We are continuing to work on bringing you new features to further enhance your Skype on iPhone experience. Keep sharing your feedback in the Skype Community, and if you’ve not already downloaded the new Skype for iPhone, you can get the update from the Apple App Store – all you’ll need is iOS 7 or later,” the company said, emphasizing that it still needs feedback from consumers in order to sure that the improvements it makes to the application are there to help users chat with contacts easier.
