Microsoft has just launched a brand new campaign for United States students who want to purchase a new computer running the recently-released Windows 8.

The so-called Chip In promo allows parents and friends to support a student by contributing to the cost of a Windows PC. In addition, Microsoft is offering a 10 percent discount, while also installing Office 365 University at absolutely no cost.

“At the Windows Chip In website, students with a valid .edu email address can crowd source funds to help them purchase a PC of their choosing from the Microsoft Store catalogue of devices. To help get them started, Windows will ‘chip in’ the first 10% of the cost of the PC via a discount to the overall cost,” Microsoft explained.

The program will run through September 1, 2013, so if you want to make sure that you’re eligible for the campaign, click here.
