Windows 10 for Phone Technical Preview 10051 is the first build that integrates Project Spartan, Microsoft's attempt to replace Internet Explorer 11. Project Spartan is also available in the last desktop flight, which makes the mobile version even more useful.

However, Project Spartan is not the default browser in Windows 10 for Phones, so you will still have to use IE 11 as your default browser.

According to Microsoft, this is still an early version of the browser, but in future builds, Project Spartan will be the default browser and IE11 will be completely removed.

Project Spartan features the same rendering engine available on the desktop version, which means it comes with support for the latest standards of the modern Web.

So, that being said, you should expect Project Spartan to have Microsoft's new design for its Windows Phone version. There's been a lot of debate regarding the layout of the address bar, as many Windows Phone users think that placing it at the bottom is the way to go.

Address bar has been placed at the top in this build

Well, it looks like Microsoft has decided to put the address bar on top in Project Spartan. Small actions bar is indeed at the bottom, but there's a bug in this build that makes the menu larger than it is intended to be.

However, Microsoft claims that it has listened to users feedback about the position of the address bar and that they are looking closely at the design.

More feedback is needed after the release of this Windows 10 for Phones Technical Preview build for Microsoft to continue to make changes to Project Spartan.

It's also worth mentioning that this Project Spartan build comes with early versions of the Reading View and Reading List features. Microsoft will continue to add new features in future Project Spartan versions.
