Microsoft has recently decided to make OneNote free of charge on Windows and Mac OS X, but the company is now working to improve the touch-based version aimed at Windows 8 as well.

Today, Redmond rolled out an update for the Metro version of OneNote that brings a number of changes and improvements supposed to improve the overall experience with the app.

OneNote for Windows 8 now comes with support for more languages, but also performance and accessibility improvements, according to the official release notes published in the store.

At the same time, it also comes with the ability to go to the location of the page from the “Recent Notes” view, while the inking and rule line tools received improvements that make them easier to use.

The feature lineup remains unchanged, so you’re provided with the same rich feature package that allows you to create to-do lists, draw and write, take pictures, scan whiteboard and documents, share notes, search and customize formatting, all without leaving the Modern UI of your computer or tablet running Windows 8.

Overall, this is clearly an update that should come in handy to many users out there, so download OneNote for Windows 8 Metro to find out what’s new by yourself.
