The perfect choice for those looking for their first phone

Microsoft has just announced two new mobile phones, but contrary to what some people expected, they’re not part of the Lumia lineup of smartphones.

Nokia 105 and Nokia 105 Dual SIM are the company’s most affordable phones ever, as they will become available this month for only $20 (€11) in most markets across the world.

As you can see by simply clicking the photo above, this isn’t quite the smartphone most of us would buy, but Microsoft says that it’s the best choice for those looking to buy their first phone or trying to find a device that can be used as a backup on long trips.

And since the word backup basically means impressive battery life, Microsoft claims that the Nokia 105 can last for a maximum of 35 days in standby mode and up to 15 hours of continuous talking. It comes with a replaceable 800 mAh battery, but given the fact that it features zero smartphone capabilities, that should really be enough.

Three color versions available

Nokia 105 and 105 Dual SIM will be available in three different color versions, namely cyan, black, and white, and will offer a 1.45-inch screen with HIghColor (16-bit) resolution. Microsoft hasn’t unveiled the weight of the phone, but it should be really light, which means that you are supposed to carry it around with little effort.

And because everyone likes this form factor, both models come with two essential features for such a phone, namely a torch and FM radio. Gaming capabilities are also offered, and despite the fact that you won’t be able to play Asphalt, you’ll get other legendary games: Snake Xenzia and Bubble Bash 2.

It can store a maximum of 2,000 contacts, Microsoft says, which could make it the perfect companion for business customers (who do not want to purchase a BlackBerry, of course).

Here are the full specs of the new Nokia devices (yes, they’re still being called Nokia, most likely as part of Microsoft’s efforts to clearly draw a line between these cheap phones and its own portfolio of Lumia smartphones):
