Microsoft has just announced that its Bing search engine has received a new music video search option that is supposed “to make it easier for you to access the best music videos available on the web.”

Basically, Microsoft now allows its users not only to search for a music video, but also to play a preview right on the results page.

With videos coming from YouTube, the new Bing feature allows users to start watching a specific clip by simply pressing the play button. In addition to YouTube, Bing also includes videos from Vimeo, MTV, Artist Direct, and more.

“You will see the most popular video showcased in the top-left of the screen. Harnessing Bing’s machine learning capabilities, the most relevant and popular music video for an artist, album or song is showcased in the upper right of the screen,” Microsoft explained.

“Because we know that quality videos don’t just come from one place, we showcase videos from leading sites including YouTube, Vimeo, MTV, Artist Direct and more. Instead of making you click through to a site to see if a video is the one you want, you can simply mouse over the thumbnail to see a preview. If you like what you’re hearing, simply click on the button to play the full version.”

At the same time, you can also search for album information, with Bing displaying the videos in the same order that they originally appeared on the album.

Last but not least, the new feature also comprises music discovery features with the help of a new “Top Songs” section that analyzes the attributes of a specific song to display similar results.

At this point, Microsoft claims that Bing music video search has a database of 1.7 million songs, 70,000 artists, and half a million albums, with new information added every day.
