The low-end market continues to be Microsoft's main focus these days, so the company is launching new phone models every once in a while to appeal to buyers looking for budget handsets.

The latest addition to its affordable phone portfolio is called Lumia 430 and comes at a price that sets new standards not only for Microsoft, but for the entire industry.

To hit the market at $70 (€65), Lumia 430 also features dual-SIM support and runs Windows Phone 8.1 with the latest Lumia Denim firmware. It will also be upgradeable to Windows 10 when the new operating system comes out later this year.

Technical specifications

Lumia 430 is first and foremost a phone designed to be affordable, so you won't find any breathtaking specs that could appeal to those looking for a productivity workhorse. But specs are decent, to say the least.

The device is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and features 1 GB of RAM, enough to get the full Windows 10 experience later this year. Microsoft said that 512 MB devices would also get some Windows 10 features, but for the full experience, at least 1 GB of RAM is required. So the cheap Lumia 430 qualifies for the full Windows 10 upgrade.

The phone boasts a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 800x480 pixels and a 15:9 aspect ratio. A 2-megapixel camera with no Flash but featuring fixed focus is also offered. A front 0.3-megapixel unit is available for selfies and video calls.

Lumia 430 offers by default 8 GB of internal storage space, but this can be expanded up to 128 GB with a microSD card. Additional space is obviously available via OneDrive.

As far as battery is concerned, the device ships with a 1500 mAh removable battery, which should be enough to last for around 2 days of medium usage. There will be several color options, including bright orange and black.

Microsoft says that the new device will go on sale in April, first in APAC, IMEA, Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, and the rest of the world is expected to get it soon after that.

Here is a rundown of the Lumia 430 dual-SIM specifications:
