Microsoft recently launched a new application aimed at Windows 8.1 users, which allows them to read Wikipedia articles in the Modern UI of their device using Bing recommendations.

The intuitively-called Bing Wikipedia Browser combines the rich content of Wikipedia with features provided by the search engine owned by Microsoft, so you can read articles in the Metro UI while receiving suggestions, search options, and related articles from Bing.

“Bing Wikipedia Browser by Microsoft combines the content from Wikipedia — the free encyclopedia — with enhanced search, browse, and content recommendations based on the Bing Knowledge repository,” the app description states.

Of course, the app also comes with sharing features that allow you to send a specific article to a friend using the search charm, but also with support for high-resolution images included in Wikipedia posts.

Bing Wikipedia Browser is a universal app, so it can be installed on Windows Phones as well, and is obviously offered free of charge to everyone. It also supports Windows RT, which means that those who have purchased a tablet such as Microsoft's Surface RT can use it too.

Overall, this is a helpful addition to your app arsenal, so download Bing Wikipedia Browser for Windows 8.1 right now to see what it's up to.
