Microsoft rolled out a new firmware update for the Surface RT, which is the company’s first tablet in history that was launched in October 2012 together with Windows 8.

According to the official Surface RT update history page, the new firmware version comes with Surface RT UEFI version 3.31.500, which enhances overall system stability.

As it’s the case of all the other firmware updates, this new one is being delivered via Windows Update and Microsoft says that it could take a while until everyone receives it.

“When Surface updates are provided via the Windows Update service, they are delivered in stages to Surface customers. As a result, not every Surface will receive the update at the same time, but the update will be delivered to all devices. If you have not received the update then please manually check Windows Update later,” the company explains.

In addition, Surface RT tablets running Windows RT 8.1 are also getting the Windows 8.1 August Update, but again, no big improvements are available as part of this release.

If you’re running Windows RT 8.1, you don’t need to do anything to get the new August Update, as it’s being delivered through Windows Update and installed on your tablet fully automatically.
