Microsoft has just put in place a new premium service for those who encounter issues with their PCs, accessible now at AnswerDesk.com. The website is now online for users in the United States alone, though Microsoft hasn’t made an official announcement on it for the time being.

Little is known at the moment on the new service, beside its obvious purpose, though Microsoft might unveil specific info on it in the near future.

Back in September, Microsoft purchased the domain AnswerDesk.com, and the service was said at that moment to be meant as a response to Apple’s Genius Bar that is available via the company’s retail stores.

At that time, Microsoft purchased answerdesk.ch, answerdesk.fr, answerdesk.jp, answerdesk.tw, and answersdesk.com, though none of these would get users to an actual website.

People outside the United States trying to access the service will be prompted with the following message: “Sorry, this site restricted to US visitors only.”

Those who have access to the service report that the site’s about us page confirms that we’re looking at a premium service aimed at offering assistance with users’ PCs.

“Answer Desk Answer Techs are trained to diagnose and troubleshoot your Microsoft software related issues,” the said page reads.

“Answer Techs are also knowledgeable to train you in Microsoft’s latest software, such as Microsoft Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010. Our Answer Techs will take care of your technology needs as quickly and easily as possible, so you can get back to your life.”

Moreover, Microsoft stresses on the fact that Answer Desk Answer Techs are capable of offering support for a wide range of software products, including Office tools.

“Answer Desk Answer Techs are highly trained, and qualified in their domain of knowledge, including popular software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. In addition, they are professional, friendly, and dedicated to solving your PC issues without resorting to technology jargon,” Microsoft explains.

As stated above, Microsoft is expected to make a formal announcement on this service soon, especially since the website already went live in the US.
