Microsoft Labels Gmail as Virus

Over the past weekend, Windows Live OneCare managed to emit a false positive when users running the Microsoft security solution accessed the Google email service. In this context, OneCare
flagged Gmail as a virus warning users that their machines had been compromised by the BAT/BWG.A virus.

"This was a limited false positive issue with our antivirus protection," stated a Microsoft representative. "After we became aware of the issue, we released a new antivirus signature that resolved the issue for our customers on Sunday evening."

Google failed to comment in any manner the incident. Microsoft informed that the issue was generated by some modifications that the Mountain View Company had implemented into Gmail last week. The Redmond Company added that it is hard at work reviewing its procedures and processes in order to prevent further false positives.
