Microsoft: Kinect Is a Critical Part of Xbox One

The company has recently reversed its stance on DRM for the console

Marc Whitten, a corporate vice president at Microsoft, says that the new, enhanced Kinect technology is an integral part of the new Xbox One and the company has no plans to offer a package that does not include it.

He tells IGN that, “We want game and interactive entertainment creators to be able to know they can take advantage of it, and we want it to be completely consistent for our users.”

The comment comes after Microsoft announced that it was eliminating all DRM measures from the Xbox One, in a surprising reversal of policy.

Many gamers have complained about possible spy activity of the Kinect and are requesting a way of disabling it or buying it separately from the main console.

The Xbox One is set to be launched in November of this year.
