January is a really important month for Microsoft, as the company is expected to disclose full details about its Windows 10 plans during a press conference scheduled for January 21 and, shortly after that, to introduce a new Technical Preview that could provide users with a plethora of new features.

Codenamed January Technical Preview, the new testing build could provide access for Windows Insiders to features such as Cortana and Continuum, an option that would allow them to switch from the desktop to the Modern UI without interrupting their work.

And since the January Technical Preview is quite an eagerly anticipated release, Microsoft has started teasing some Windows 10 features on Twitter, trying to stir up interest in the event coming January 21.

Multiple desktops and Task view in the spotlight

This weekend, the company teased two new features that are already available in the existing Technical Preview builds, but which are completely new for those running Windows.

Multiple desktops and Task view enable users to better organize their work on the desktop and certainly come in handy on Microsoft’s platform, especially because similar features already exist on rival operating systems.

Windows 10 will definitely get them in the final bits of the products and Microsoft is now collecting feedback from Windows Insiders in order to improve them as much as possible in the remaining months until the launch of the OS.

JTP to also come with new ISOs

The upcoming January Technical Preview rollout will also include new ISOs that would enable those who want to try it out to deploy a fresh copy of their computers without the need to install a previous release first.

Microsoft, however, warned that the built-in update system would only work for those running Windows 10 build 9879 and 9888, so users who installed the leaked 9901 build on their computers will have to rely on the aforementioned ISOs to upgrade.

More details, however, will be provided next week at the January 21 event, when the company should discuss all its plans for the new operating system on both desktops and smartphones.
