Microsoft’s KB2859537 update released on Patch Tuesday is causing lots of problems on Windows 7 computers, with some users now reporting issues due to incompatibility with Avast anti-virus software.

In addition to many posts on Microsoft’s support forums, one of our reasons detailed the problems with Avast anti-virus in a comment, explaining that simply uninstalling or updating the security product to the latest version could fix the glitches.

“I started to disable various services and there it was ‘Avast.’ It seems that the updates have given Avast a dose of the trots and a would be conspiracy theorist would construe it is a Microsoft bomb, Either way it is a major mistake by Microsoft, After all I have never had any issues with Avast until this week,” Mark D. posted.

Microsoft has finally pulled the patch earlier today, as it’s now investigating the reports and working on a fix. If Avast incompatibility isn’t the cause, users can always remove the update completely and wait for an official workaround.
