Microsoft has adopted a completely new strategy at the time when Windows 8 was officially launched, deciding to remains tight-lipped on sales figures, but saying that everything went perfect.

It did the same thing for the Surface RT tablet, a device that in the end proved to be another disappointing product, and the company seems to be ready to do it again with the Xbox One console.

Launched 11 days ago, the Xbox One is said to break sales records, according to Microsoft, even though no specifics have been provided.

Instead of providing any accurate sales figures, Redmond revealed that Xbox One players killed 3 billion zombies in Dead Rising 3, driven 90 million miles in Forza 5, and completed 150 million combos in Killer Instinct.

"Eleven days in we are seeing record breaking sales and are selling every Xbox One we can make. Demand is far exceeding supply in the 13 countries we’ve launched and we are sold out at retailers around the world,” Microsoft’s Yusuf Mehdi said.

Since no specific figures have been provided, Microsoft seems to believe that this entire secrecy actually does well to the company. This time, however, Redmond has no reason to remain tight-lipped, especially because it sold 1 million units only one day after its launch.

History has proved Microsoft that such secrecy isn’t quite the best idea when it comes to new products. Microsoft praised the Surface RT with several occasion, but in the end got sued for lying about sales, as some of its partners and companies that adopted the tablet lost customers due to this strategy.

The second-generation Surface tablet was officially launched in October and apparently has more or less learned its lesson when it comes to tablets. The company hasn’t released any statements to praise the devices and the way they perform on the market and nobody knows if it really plans to do the same thing again.
