Windows Phone 7 is already about one year old, and phone users fond of Microsoft's mobile operating system are looking forward for the next flavor of the platform, supposedly set to land next year, along with a new Windows client for desktop.

Most probably called Windows Phone 8, the next platform release promises a better mobile experience that Windows Phone 7 was capable of delivering.

The last flavor of the mobile OS brought the major changes the platform needed so as not to fall into oblivion, and it seems that Microsoft is aiming even higher with the future iterations of the platform.

In a recent job post, Microsoft notes that they are looking at greatly enhancing the use experience Windows Phone 8 will provide users with.

Right out-of-the-box, the next platform release will offer all of the features and capabilities users are seeking in today's smartphones.

“The Windows Phone team is taking on a huge challenge stirring up the out of box experience for Windows Phone 8 and is committed to building/improving a compelling and dynamic high quality look and feel to our end user experience,” the job listing reads.

“This promises to be a volatile world churning within the OS, Phone 8 as well as our AUT (Application Under Test) that we’ll ship in the Windows Marketplace!

“Our test team needs a few more key folks to compliment the talent already onboarded. We are looking for experienced and intelligent engineers to join our team! Join us in our mission to bring the most compelling Windows Phone experience to customers to date!”

Details on Windows Phone 8 are scarce at the moment, save for the fact that it might sport the codename of Apollo and that it was recently rumored to include one-handed text input and voice texting, along with that should be a “localization and inspiration and context engine,” WMPoweruser notes.

Previous rumors also suggested that Microsoft might be aiming at unifying the Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 experiences in a single one to some degree, but specific info on this lacks at the moment.

Later this year, the Redmond-based company will bring to the market a new flavor of Windows Phone, codenamed Mango, which will deliver a great deal of new features and improvements as well.
