Microsoft is courting IBM users away from Lotus Notes and Domino and onto Office, Exchange Server and Office SharePoint Server with new migration tools. In this context, an updated Microsoft Transporter Suite 2007 for Lotus Domino Demo: Application Data Migration is now available for download. Microsoft has traditionally been shopping its unified communications and collaboration platform to IBM customers, while looking for more market share. And the fact that throughout 2007, the UC&C platform has grown consistently, generating in excess of $800 million revenue in FY 2007, a jump of 35% over the previous fiscal year, is a clear indication that migration solutions, such as the Transporter Suite, along with the products making up the unified communications and collaboration platform deliver a successful combination.

"We're releasing an updated version of our Microsoft Transporter Suite for Lotus Domino, a set of tools for customers moving to Exchange Server, Office SharePoint Server and the Office suite from IBM Lotus Notes and Domino. Since we first released the Transporter Suite last year, we've consistently upgraded it to meet the changing needs of our customers. The suite's newest capabilities will make it easier for customers to enjoy a smooth transition to Microsoft's UC&C platform while maintaining business continuity. With this latest update, we beefed up the scalability of the suite to handle organizations with hundreds of thousands of users, mailboxes and groups," explained Chris Capossela, Corporate Vice President, Microsoft Business Division.

The release of the Transporter Suite 2007 for Lotus Domino Demo: Application Data Migration comes to support the increasing number of IBM users that have switched or plan to jump onboard Microsoft's UC&C platform. Capossela revealed that, in fact, the growth of Microsoft's solution was fueled by new customers moving away from Notes and Domino. Capossela estimated that over 300 members of the enterprise customer segment began the transition to Exchange Server, Office SharePoint Server and the Office System. That is roughly in excess of 2.8 million users.

"Customers continue to have the assurance that making the switch to Microsoft's UC&C platform can be done smoothly and without disruption to their existing operations. Today's new solutions offer customers more updated tools to plan, prepare and transition their communications and collaboration platform to Exchange Server, Office SharePoint Server and the Office suite. These updated tools handle the heavy lifting, so customers can make informed decisions while continuing business as usual," Capossela added.
