Microsoft is regarding third-party developers building on top of its web services as a catalyst to guarantee the success of Windows Live. In this context, the Redmond Company will increasingly focus on delivering an attractive development platform in concert with the Windows Live initiative. Microsoft will deliver additional details about the Windows Live development platform at MIX 07 between April 30 and May 2.

Adam Sohn, director of worldwide sales and marketing in Microsoft's online services group revealed that, currently, Microsoft is building a framework for the Windows Live services, and that the architecture will be provided on top of the Live APIs for infrastructure and applications. In this context, Microsoft is right on track to make available an advertising-based solution for delivering software as a service.

At MIX 07, the Redmond Company will focus on presenting a model of broadening the market via Windows Live. Social applications will be places at the core of the Windows Live ecosystem. In this regard, Microsoft plans to showcase a solution for bundling web applications with Windows Live services. The Redmond Company will also open the Windows Live Messenger community through the advertising platform that is its IM client.

Identity, relationships, advertising, domains and storage, instant messaging, search, Spaces, mail/calendar, expo classifieds and mapping constitute the infrastructure and application services components of the Windows Live framework.

"The fragmentation of the Web is a major source of dissatisfaction today ... Our vision is to provide a one-stop shop. In phase one, we're defining how do you look at all of the services and how do you put together an architecture for that?" Sohn told RedmondDeveloper.
