It's unclear whether it only refers to phones in India

Microsoft India has started to respond to a series of tweets coming from Lumia smartphone users asking exactly when the Lumia Denim update will be available for their devices.

The official account of Microsoft India offered a single reply to a handful of people claiming that, while Lumia Denim is already available to Lumia 520 owners in India, the update will be available to all Lumia smartphones running Windows Phone 8.1 by the end of this month.

This means that Microsoft has less than two weeks to make Lumia Denim available to all Lumia smartphones, which will definitely come in line with the company's promise that this update will be delivered in “early 2015.”

What's not clear is whether or not the update will be available for all Lumia smartphones powered by Windows Phone 8.1 worldwide or just in India. We've reached out to Microsoft India for clarification on the matter and will update the story.

Until then, however, let's assume Lumia Denim might be delivered to all compatible smartphones by the end of February. This will be a good time for Microsoft to keep its promise and release Lumia Denim on time, though we expect delays from carriers which are now testing the update and will probably release it slightly later.

Lumia Denim matters most for Lumia 830, 930 and 1520 users

Lumia Denim will bring major update for smartphones with good cameras like Lumia 830, 930 and 1520, but only minor improvements to the rest of the Lumia phones.

Aside from the important camera enhancements Lumia Denim will bring to high-end Lumia smartphone, it will also add “Hey Cortana.”

It's pretty obvious that Lumia users are a bit disappointed that Microsoft's Windows Phone update takes so much time to release, but the Redmond-based company has it covered as it previously said that delivery times might vary depending on location and carriers.
