Redmond is working to refine the design of the icons

Microsoft rolled out a new icon pack in Windows 10 build 10130, but the company is now working to refine this design and make the entire operating system look modern and fresh.

Earlier today, Gabriel Aul, head of the Windows Insider program, posted online a couple of screenshots of Windows 10 build 10136, and although not much was revealed by these photos, it appears that some refinements to the desktop icons are actually part of this build.

Most of them can be spotted on the taskbar, where Aul has several icons pinned and the first one that comes in the spotlight is File Explorer.

No tab support for File Explorer?

For this build, Microsoft redesigned File Explorer in a way that might actually disappoint some Windows users out there, as the company removed the multiple tab design at the top of the icon and decided to stick to a single tab. Could this be a sign that no tab support is being added to File Explorer? It could be, but until Microsoft comes up with a statement on this, it’s all just speculation.

Tab support for File Explorer is one of the most requested features by Windows insiders, and until now, the company is yet to add it in preview builds, but there’s still hope that the company would do so in the RTM version of the operating system.

Another small tweak added to the Windows 10 icons is in the System Tray, where the small arrow that provides access to all icons minimized to tray has been redesigned to get in line with the new look of the operating system.

Other than that, Windows 10 build 10136 comes with the standard icons, including Project Spartan, which continues to be part of this version too. Microsoft promised to replace it with Edge branding in the coming builds, but it turns out that this change takes longer than expected.
