Over 60 of Microsoft’s health customers and partners will participate in the Health Users Group European Summit which the company is hosting in Brussels on Monday and Tuesday, 29 and 30 November.

According to Elena Bonfiglioli, Microsoft Director of Citizenship, the event is designed to underline the going momentum of health and wellbeing Cloud projects.

In this regard, the summit is designed to deliver insight into the possibilities that the Cloud opens up for companies involved in the health and wellness industry.

Furthermore, the Redmond company is also sharing information from early Cloud adopters with the summit’s participants.

“Governments, health ministries, health providers – public and private alike – and pharmaceutical companies have started to use cloud computing to address a variety of business and medical challenges. We are getting a glimpse of the benefits for physicians as knowledge workers,” Bonfiglioli explained.

“The infusion of intelligence and connectivity into a wide range of health devices, complemented by Internet-scale services, is creating a new paradigm for computing. As a result, a new paradigm for health and wellbeing is emerging.”

The Cloud is capable of changing the way in which health information, patient and doctor data is managed, stored, shared, accessed, etc.

The promise from Microsoft is that this will help companies involved in health and wellness to offer better value to their patients.

The software giant is even prepared to offer the Cloud in Health and Wellbeing white paper at the Microsoft Health Users Group Summit.

“The uptake of cloud computing in a few health provider organisations in Europe has shown impressive gains in terms of cost efficiency,” Bonfiglioli added.

“The challenge and the opportunity for cloud computing is to match its ability to deliver solid cost reduction while improving the quality of care and broadening access to health and wellbeing services.”
