On Monday, Microsoft announced a series of changes to its Windows Azure site, all aimed at making the navigation experience better than before, and at providing additional features for developers.

At the same time, the Redmond-based company announced plans to kick off new training sessions for application developers interested in coming up with Windows Azure applications.

Among these changes, we can count the added support for Node.js, which is accompanied by the availability of an SDK for app development, complemented by other tools that software builders can now take advantage of.

Microsoft already made available for download all of the necessary tools for Windows Azure development, as we reported on Monday. You can also find the download links at the bottom of this article.

Today, the company will have a developer event taking place at its campus, so as to help developers get started with the building process.

“On Tuesday December 13th after European Business hours, Microsoft will be holding a special Windows Azure event for developers,” the company announced.

“Join us LIVE from the Microsoft Redmond Campus to learn how to get started building applications for the cloud from Microsoft technical leaders Scott Guthrie, Dave Campbell, and Mark Russinovich.”

The software giant plans on broadcasting live all of the sessions via Channel9, so that all those unable to attend the event on the premises would still be able to stay informed.

“The Learn Windows Azure Event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PST on Tuesday December 13th. Add this time to your calendar and come back to Channel9 on December 13th to watch the live stream,” Microsoft explains.

“We also have a limited number of seats available for the in-person studio audience. Register now if you would like to reserve a seat to attend the Learn Windows Azure event for free at the Microsoft Redmond Campus.”
