Microsoft might be firing around 18,000 employees from most of its divisions across the world, but this doesn’t necessarily mean that the company isn’t hiring high-profile executives from other companies.

For instance, today Redmond has reached an agreement with Peggy Johnson, a top executive at Qualcomm who has decided to join the software giant in a high executive role.

Recode writes that when contacted for comments, both Microsoft and Qualcomm representatives refused to comment, which in most of the cases is the first sign that there’s indeed some truth behind these rumors.

If you’re wondering, Peggy Johnson has until now spent 24 years at Qualcomm and is considered the highest ranking female executive within the company. Most recently, she held the role of executive vice president and head of global market development at Qualcomm, the source writes.

At this point, it’s not yet clear whether Peggy Johnson is getting any critical role for Microsoft’s reorganization process, but there’s no doubt that any talent that’s joining the company is a big win for Satya Nadella’s team that’s trying to revamp the company from the ground up.

The two companies are yet to release a public statement on the switch, but expect more details to be provided soon, as Peggy Johnson is making the move from Qualcomm to Microsoft.
