You can win one if DroidRage is breaking your heart

Today, Microsoft is offering free Windows Phone devices to users in an attempt to celebrate Valentine’s Day differently.

Users who would like to win one of the available handsets will have to head over to Twitter today, until midnight.

Microsoft is offering the phones to those who will follow @windowsphone on the micro-blogging website and who will send out messages with either their rage at Android, or with their love of the Windows Phone they already own.

In a recent post on the Windows Team blog, Michael Stroh explains: “to enter, follow @windowsphone on Twitter, then send us one of the following messages:

Option 1: If #DroidRage is breaking your heart, tweet a “Dear Droid” breakup letter with the hashtag #DumpingMyDroid. Option 2: If you already have a Windows Phone (or just want one), tweet why you love it with the hashtag #ILoveWindowsPhone.

As stated above, the contest will end at midnight on Valentine’s Day. The company will pick the winners from the valid entries and will announce the result to the public.

“Hurry—the contest ends just before midnight on Valentine’s Day. We’ll randomly pick two lucky winners from all valid entries and hand them a prize package that includes one Windows Phone, one annual Zune Pass, and one annual Xbox LIVE Gold membership,” Michael Stroh continues.

This is not the first time Microsoft offers free handsets to mobile phone owners, nor is it the first time it says that these devices go to unhappy Android users.

Only a few weeks ago, when reports on malware applications found in the Android Market started to emerge, Microsoft offered free Windows Phones to all those affected by them.

Those who would like to learn additional details on this new Microsoft Windows Phone sweepstakes promotion should head over to the aforementioned post on the company’s blog. The official terms and conditions are published there.
