Redmond-based software giant Microsoft has a tight relationship with Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia, which adopted its Windows Phone operating system a couple of years ago, and claims that it even has something to say when it comes to the hardware of Nokia’s devices.

Speaking to Poket-lint, Casey McGee, Microsoft's senior marketing manager for Windows Phone, said that the company could indeed influence the design of Nokia’s devices, should it feel like doing so.

"Our relationship is so close we get hardware early and we have some say in how these things are designed. […] I am very happy with the relationship and the ability to influence what they are doing," he said.

It’s not clear to what extent Microsoft can actually influence the designing process of Nokia’s devices, but the fact that the two are working together in developing these smartphones should be beneficial for both of them.
