Microsoft announced its Q2 2013 financial results this morning, revealing a 6 percent increase of the Windows business despite the decline of the PC market.

Microsoft’s CFO Amy Hood admits that Windows is indeed losing some ground, but explains that the company is now going through a transformation process that could “take some time.”

As far as Brendan Barnicle, an analyst at Pacific Crest Securities, is concerned, this is one of the biggest misses ever for the Redmond-based tech giant.

"That's the biggest miss we've ever seen from Microsoft, the biggest that I could remember. It looks like everything was weak,” he said pointing to the $900 million (€685 million) loss caused by the Surface RT.

"Microsoft can't charge $100 per device for Windows the way they could 20 years ago," Barnicle adds according to The Frontier Post.
