Kiki Wolfkill, the new executive producer in charge of the Halo franchise, says that Microsoft and 343 Industries are being careful about all the new content associated with the series in order to make sure that everything that players can experience has a lot of meaning for the community.

Speaking to the official Microsoft site, the developer states that “We will never do anything that doesn’t move the universe forward. We won’t do something for the sake of being in a certain medium.”

Original developer Bungie has done a great job of limiting the number of Halo-related concepts that were launched and has always kept the attention of the fan base focused on the video games, which delivered the biggest story moments and introduced major changes to characters.

Over time, this has created an audience that’s afraid that Microsoft and new developer 343 Industries might be too focused on cross-media promotions at the moment.

A live action series called Halo: Nightfall will be launched before the end of the year exclusively on the Xbox One.

Another television project is in development linked to the same universe, produced by Steven Spielberg.

Meanwhile, just one new Halo video game, Guardians, is in the works at 343 Industries, which makes the franchise look a little unbalanced.

Kiki Wolfkill says that Microsoft is listening to the fan base and that it is happy to have players who are so engaged with the franchise.

She adds, “We have a very broad audience. Some come for the gameplay, some for the universe, and some for the narrative. We needed to respect the legacy and ensure that anything we added felt meaningful to the universe.”

The next big Halo-themed video game release is The Master Chief Collection, which is set to arrive in November on the Xbox One and will introduce remastered versions of the core titles in the series.

Their graphics will be updated, but the team wants to make sure that all the core glitches are present and that gamers get details on their importance.

The multiplayer aspect of the game will include 100 maps, and a new system will be used to track a gamer’s preferences.

343 Industries will create both classic and modern multiplayer modes, and all those who pick up Halo: The Master Chief Collection will get access to a beta which will allow them to test Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One.
