Microsoft is gearing up to kick virtualization up a notch. In this context, the Redmond company has debuted the getVirtualnow website, designed to provide information related to an upcoming Microsoft event dedicated exclusively to virtualization solutions. The software company plans to unveil next month no less than three of its offerings signaling an ever widening breach of software from the physical infrastructures. Even from the position of a
new player on the virtualization market, Microsoft is indicating a strong commitment for the long haul ahead.

"Find out how Windows Server 2008 with Hyper-V, Microsoft System Center - including Virtual Machine Manager 2008 - and Microsoft Desktop and Application Virtualization allow you to deploy, manage and get VIRTUAL now like never before," Microsoft stated.

All attendants will receive a free Microsoft Virtualization evaluation software kit, the company promised, which is likely to include the products launched at the event. However, recipients will only be able to enjoy the software until December 31, 2008, when the time-bombed kit is set to expire.

"On September 8th, 2008 Microsoft will launch its new virtualization products. Now you can virtualize from the data center to the desktop, and manage with the same tools you're already using for your physical infrastructure," reads an excerpt of the getVirtualnow website.

Participants will have available a variety of both hardware and software solutions from Microsoft and partner companies for test-drives. On top of this, Bob Muglia, Senior Vice President, Server and Tools Business; Kevin Turner, Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft Corporation; and Bob Kelly, Corporate Vice President, Infrastructure Server Marketing will be on location emphasizing the opportunity presented by the new virtualization solutions which the Redmond company is offering. A great deal of focus will be placed on the client-side virtualization, in regard to the desktop technologies delivered by Microsoft and its partners.
