Dovetail Games has just announced that the first DLC for Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition will arrive in mid-February. Dubbed Dangerous Approaches, it will be the first of a total of 4 additional packs for the flight simulator to be launched in the coming months.

The upcoming DLC has been developed by aviation guru Jane Whittaker and will provide fans of the franchise with 20 additional challenges that will fly them over major thunderstorms over Hong Kong, over Everest or the icy wastes of Greenland.

With the help of the unique pilot’s guide, you will be led through each flight, thanks to the hints and tips provided on flying each aircraft.

“It’s been thrilling to create these exciting and dynamic add-ons which will be perfect for new and seasoned simmers alike. These packs take full advantage of FSX: Steam Edition and provide a wide variety of gameplay.

“In addition, Dangerous Approaches is fully customisable, allowing simmers to use their own aircraft in all of the missions,” said Jane Whittaker.

The new missions require better skills than the base game

Players will be able to complete the new missions choosing from a wide range of aircrafts from the Flight Simulator X hangar. However, there is also the option to substitute any aircraft of your own choice, but keep in mind that you will fly over some of the most inhospitable areas on the planet.

The new missions included in the Dangerous Approaches DLC are meant for veterans of Flight Simulator X, so newcomers may want to play the base game for a slightly longer time before tackling these challenges that are meant to separate the amateur pilots from professional ones.

Unfortunately, there are no details on when exactly Dangerous Approaches DLC will land on Microsoft Flight Simulator X: Steam Edition. Developer Dovetail Games has yet to announce the price tag, so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
