Microsoft Flexes Its Forefront Security Muscles

Microsoft is flexing its security muscles with two new downloads, designed to demonstrate the capabilities of its Forefront line-up of products. The Redmond company is offering for download Forefront and System Center Demonstration Toolkit as well as the Forefront Edge Security and Access Demonstration Toolkit. Both offerings are essentially virtual machines designed to integrate seamlessly with Virtual PC 2004 SP1, Virtual PC 2007 or Virtual Server 2005 R2.

Forefront Edge Security and Access Demonstration Toolkit "might be useful to help understand and demonstrate the capabilities in our Edge security offering. In particular Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) which provides secure access to company applications and resources wherever you are connected to the internet. Here's what you get: Secure Remote Access with IAG 2007, Secure Remote Access with ISA Server 2006, Branch Office Security with ISA Server 2006 and Internet Access Protection with ISA Server 2006," revealed James Senior, Microsoft UK Partner Technical Specialist.

With Forefront Edge Security and Access Demonstration Toolkit, Microsoft is essentially offering a demonstration toolkit set up to highlight Intelligent Application Gateway (IAG) 2007 and Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006. According to the company, the 1049.2 MB download will offer users the possibility to test drive a total of four scenario-based demonstrations, enumerated by Senior above.

"There is also a Forefront and System Center VPC that helps demonstrate the following: System Center Configuration Manager pushing Forefront Client Security signatures to keep a client machine updated. Forefront Security for Exchange Server blocking viruses in emails received in Outlook 2007. System Center Operations Manager monitoring the health of servers and clients in the environment. Intelligent Application Gateway adapting user access to SharePoint 2007 based on end-point policy detection. And Forefront Client Security performing Real-time Protection against malware," Senior added.
