Microsoft is currently holding its FY14 Q4 earnings conference call, and Executive Vice President Amy Hood has revealed that the company is pleased with the sales of the Kinect-less Xbox One console, released to the general public in June.

In addition to this, she has also expressed her optimism regarding the way the company is positioned for the end of the year, with the next-gen console headed to a number of new secondary markets and a pretty solid games line-up.

"Also in June, we released our new Xbox One offering, and we're pleased with the response. At E3, we reasserted our focus on games with blockbuster titles and key exclusives coming this holidays, with the progress we're making in channel inventories, the new market for Xbox One and and our exciting game line up, we feel well positioned heading into the holiday season," Hood has said.

The release of the Kinect-less Xbox One SKU made the console much more competitive price-wise, which translated into the system selling over twice as many units in June as it did in May. Furthermore, the company's earnings report also noted a 14 percent increase in Xbox earnings when compared to the same period in 2013, and its holiday lineup of games is sure to please Xbox One owners, so the company is sitting in a pretty good place for now.
