Microsoft has just announced that its Surface RT discount campaign for education institutions has been extended until September 30, as it wants more schools to be able to take advantage of the offer.

Even though the announcement was published on Microsoft New Zealand’s blog, the extension will most likely be released worldwide, so expect more details to be provided soon.

“We're very pleased to announce that the Surface RT offer for schools and tertiary education institutions (see previous blog post) has been extended until the 30th September, 2013!

“Now, between July 15, 2013 and September 30, 2013, Microsoft is pleased to offer the following special pricing on Surface RT to New Zealand schools and higher education institutions, through Authorised Surface Retailers,” the company said.

Microsoft is believed to be working on the second-generation Surface, so this new discount is probably supposed to help the company clear out inventories of the existing model before the new version hits shelves.
