The final flavor of the latest version of Microsoft’s popular Security Essentials antivirus was made available for download last week.

The software was made available in a beta version in the fourth quarter of the last year, when Microsoft also launched the beta testing program for it.

The final flavor of Microsoft Security Essentials 4 was released to the public on April 25th, while the beta program ended the next day, on April 26th.

All those who beta tested the software and who have the automatic updates feature turned on on their computers will receive the new version via Windows Update.

However, they can also download and install the security product manually, as can all those who did not participate in the program.

Microsoft Security Essentials is a free security application, meant to provide users with protection against today’s threats in the malware landscape.

The software was made available with support for all computers running Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3), Windows Vista and Windows 7. It is compatible both with x86 and x64 computers.

In order to take advantage of Microsoft Security Essentials, users should have a genuine version of Windows installed on their computers.

Not only is it free to download and install, but MSE is also easy to use, and requires a low amount of resources to operate efficiently, which makes it a great option for users with older or less powerful machines.

“Microsoft Security Essentials is a free download from Microsoft that is simple to install, easy to use, and always kept up-to-date so you can be assured your PC is protected by the latest technology,” Microsoft explains.

“Microsoft Security Essentials runs quietly and efficiently in the background so you’re free to use your Windows-based PC the way you want—without interruptions or long computer wait times.”
