We all know that Windows 8 is a very controversial product these days, especially because Microsoft prefers to remain tight-lipped on its sales instead of providing some accurate stats to show us whether it’s a good or a disappointing product.

Peter S. Klein, Microsoft's chief financial officer, said at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference that the Redmond-based technology titan was “encouraged” by the early uptake of the new operating system, even though he refused to provide more info on sales performance.

Instead, he admitted that Microsoft’s executives were well aware of the fact that some users choose to stay away from Windows 8 because it’s a “fundamental reimagining” of Windows, so it brings plenty of UI changes.

And still, Microsoft has high expectations from Windows 8, with Klein hinting that the avalanche of devices running the new OS and expected to hit the shelves in the coming months is very likely to help boost sales.
