Microsoft has just announced that the 2012 Giving Program has proved to be a very successful effort, as the company’s employees donated a total of $105 million (€79.5 million) to charity.

According to a statement released by the Redmond-based software firm, four nonprofit organizations have consistently received funding from company employees in the last 30 years, including World Vision, Seattle Children’s Hospital, United Way of King Country and American National Red Cross.

“Across Microsoft, teams create unique events for co-workers to have fun while participating in our culture of giving. Employees make donations of all sizes through bake sales, dog and cat calendars, photo and cook books, and dunk tanks. Our most popular events, the Microsoft auction, the 5K Walk/Run, and the Giving Tree continue to draw broad employee participation,” the company said.

Overall, the company has raised $1 billion (€757 million) in cash for approximately 31,000 global and community organizations, so similar donation campaigns will also continue this year.
