Now that Windows 8.1 is finally alive and kicking, Microsoft can take a second to look back and talk about the way it improved its modern operating system.

In a blog post published today, Microsoft’s Ryan Gavin discussed about the increasing user base of the new Windows and explained that 8.1 was designed in a such a way so that it could deliver a fresh perspective.

While hearing big words coming from Redmond is not quite a new thing, Gavin also claimed that early adopters were very excited with the new experience of Windows, saying that most features of Windows 8.1 were based on their opinions.

“Microsoft is continuing on its mission to deliver one experience across all the devices in your life. At the center of that experience are the more than 20 new and improved Microsoft apps and services that come right from (the) Start on your new Windows device, which came to life in yesterday’s release of Windows 8.1,” Gavin wrote.

The blog post then goes on to describe some of the improvements in Windows 8.1, but also to point out that users are the focus of the operating system.

“The apps and services you get built in with Windows 8.1 deliver a fresh perspective with you at the center focusing on the things you value most. Staying connected, expressing yourself, getting stuff done, having some serious fun: these are some of the most important things we all do, every day, and we believe your Windows device should reflect that right from the first moment you power it on.”

Windows 8.1 is currently available as a free download from the Store, but it can also be found in retail stores across the world. The core version is priced at $119.99 (€90), while the Pro package has a price tag of $199.99 (€150).
