While applauding consistent growth for both its Enterprise Resource Planning side of the business and the Customer Relationship Management one, Microsoft indicated that it continued to remain committed to driving evolution and innovation for ERP and CRM solutions. In this regard, Convergence 2008 Copenhagen was the stage where the Redmond company announced that Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 would be generally available come December 1, 2008, as the product was released to manufacturing on November 14.

"Our customers and partners are facing complex issues today. Customers need to streamline operations and find ways to use resources more efficiently, while partners are looking for strong opportunities to create and maintain vertical solutions," Tatarinov explained.

"Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 allows us to squarely address the needs of midsize businesses in today's economic climate, and to support our partners' investments. By using the role-specific user friendly ERP solution, both groups can boost productivity and work smarter, maximising their effectiveness in driving business impact."

Focusing on the CRM business, Tatarinov revealed that Microsoft managed to add no less than 15,500 new customers, and that the number of Customer Relationship Management seats worldwide surpassed 750,000. The software giant expects its customer base to continue increasing, especially with the new offering. Tatarinov emphasized the boost in productivity that Dynamics NAV 2009 is slated to deliver.

The product has been optimized in accordance with no less than 21 personalized role centers, and it is this specific role tailoring that will drive enhanced performance and efficiency in the way employees perform their job functions. At the same time, Dynamics NAV 2009 has been bridged with SQL Server 2008, in order to deliver business intelligence capabilities. And with the .NET Web Services, data and business logic from Dynamics NAV 2009 can be integrated with additional applications.

“There are a few very exciting things that NAV 2009 brings to the market. These things squarely address the needs of helping people to be more productive, and address the cost issues that exist today in the current economy. Take role-tailored user experience. With NAV 2009 we are shipping 21 pre-configured roles that address the needs of specific personas in organizations. Of course, these roles can be customized for specific needs of our users, of course those roles can be expanded by our partners. But, that role-tailored experience is now available in the Dynamics NAV product, and, as a result, available to the entire portfolio of Dynamics Products,” Tatarinov added.
