Microsoft is preparing to release the successor of Dynamics GP 2010 commercially in the first half of 2011, the company confirmed today, indicating that additional details about the solution will be shared at the Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Conference 2011, scheduled for March 1–3, 2011. In this context, it sounds like the software giant is actually planning to offer Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 to customers in the second quarter of next year.

Midsize businesses did get a taste of the evolution represented by Dynamics GP 2010 R2, with Microsoft promising that it will enhance BI and make it easier for users to run the product.

According to the Redmond company, Dynamics GP 2010 R2 will bring to the table improved business intelligence capabilities as well as enhancements that will allow them to access actionable data easier than ever before.

“We have seen unprecedented momentum for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, having recently added more new customers in one quarter than any previous quarter in the history of the solution,” revealed Crispin Read, general manager, Microsoft Dynamics ERP Product Management Group.

“Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 delivers on our ongoing commitment to provide customers with long-term value and the ability to make quicker decisions by presenting intelligence that’s directly relevant to their job.”

With Dynamics GP focused on enabling customers to take better business decision by having the best access to the information in their organization, Microsoft notes that the next iteration of the product will benefit from enhanced insight into role-specific data.

This will be possible through improvements to the user interface, as well as enabling users to leverage personalized dashboards.

Dynamics GP 2010 R2 will also

“• Make it easier to complete tasks with improved approval workflow and electronic signature capabilities, helping people save time while managing compliance and helping to reduce fraud

• Extend connections through Fact Boxes and Action Shortcuts, which are now connected with Microsoft Lync 2010 instant messaging windows, bringing information about the people who are chatting and their companies to the user’s fingertips.”
