Although Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 RTM downloads went live approximately a week ago, the Redmond company only announced officially the product’s availability on April 27th, 2011. Still, even so, the software giant managed to beat its own expectations for the delivery deadline of Dynamics GP 2010 R2 RTM, which was slated for release on May 1st.

“Our development team was so excited about this release they got it out sooner than planned and couldn’t help but “leak” the release for download before we could catch up,” revealed Microsoft’s Errol Schoenfish.

This happened last week, with David Musgrave, Escalation Engineer for the Microsoft Dynamics GP Asia Pacific, announcing the RTM since past Thursday.

It’s only because of the fact that availability did not fit with marketing plans that the official announcement was postponed.

Still, the software giant shipped Dynamics GP 2010 R2 RTM on time, and at less than 12 months after the GA of its predecessor, the plain vanilla Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010.

“Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 R2 builds on the great foundation we shipped just under one year ago in the Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010 release with key themes of Enhancing Insight, Making It Easier and Extending Connections,” Schoenfish stated.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took part in this process; from Development to Operations to CSS to Marketing to Sales. They’ve all spent a tremendous amount of time and effort taking this vision and making it a reality for our Customers and Partners.”

According to Microsoft, the main reason justifying an upgrade to Dynamics GP 2010 R2 RTM is around the evolution of the product. More than 50 new features have been added with Dynamics GP 2010 R2 RTM to what was available in Dynamics GP 2010.

Additional enhancements include: “Industry leading Business Intelligence with enhancements to SQL Reports, Word Templates, and Email.

“Release of Business Analyzer that adds value to Light Users and extends the reach of ERP to everyone in the organization.”
