Microsoft’s latest iteration of its on-premise customer relationship management solution is capable of delivering an average response time of 0.4 seconds even in the context of 150,000 concurrent users. The software giant teamed up with Intel in order to test the performance and scalability of Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011, and published the results in a whitepaper available via the Download Center.

Some Softpedia readers might remember that in January 2011, as the Redmond company launched Dynamics CRM 2011 worldwide, it also promised to deliver the results of a benchmark involving no less than 150,000 concurrent users.

The software and CPU giants used Intel Xeon 7500 series processor-based Dell R910 servers with Pliant Technology solid state drives (SSDs) for the tests.

In addition to Dynamics CRM 2011, the benchmark also involved Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

“Benchmark results demonstrate that a single Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 instance can achieve sub-second response times with 150,000 concurrent users executing a heavy workload against a large, complex database,” the software giant stated.

“Large enterprises often deploy multiple parallel CRM instances to meet the diverse needs of different business units or geographies. Distributed across multiple instances, a Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment can scale to meet the needs of the largest enterprises.”

150,000 users sent some 5.5 million requests per hour for a total of as much as 703,080 business transactions hourly. Despite the heavy load, the average CRM Server utilization was just 42%.

According to the Redmond company the system tested enjoyed only standard optimizations. In fact, all customers can benefit from the same optimization via two white papers Optimizing and Maintaining Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Improving Microsoft Dynamics CRM Performance and Securing Data with Microsoft SQL Server 2008.

Customers interested in getting additional details of the Dynamics CRM 2011 performance benchmark should download the whitepaper provided by Microsoft.

“This white paper details the results of benchmark testing conducted on Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 running on Intel Xeon 7500 series processor-based servers with SSDs, providing:

- A description of the CRM implementation and the methods used to obtain the benchmark

- Details of the hardware configuration used in testing

- A summary of the key test parameters and results achieved,” the company said.
