Microsoft’s recently unveiled Surface 2 abandons the traditional Windows 8 logo in the favor of a new Surface branding supposed to make the difference between the old and the new models.

In case you’re wondering what the reason behind this switch actually is, Redmond claims that customers have asked for it, saying that they wanted to easily see the name of the product they purchased.

“There are 2 Windows logos on the product. Surface customers told us they wanted other people to more easily see that they'd purchased Surface, and that's why we put it on the back on the Kickstand,” the team said in an AMA session on Reddit.

In addition, the company has introduced a new silver model for the Surface in addition to the standard black version, featuring the same Vapor Magnesium case that’s said to be ultra durable.
